Rev. Fr. Augustine Mpagi, the Exorcist of Kasana–Luweero Diocese, on Saturday [November 15, 2025] celebrated his golden jubilee of priesthood at St. Kizito Minor Seminary, Nandere, where he currently serves.
The 82-year-old cleric was ordained in Rome in 1975.
The celebrations began with a solemn Holy Mass presided over by the jubilarian himself, Fr. Mpagi.
The Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Matthias Ssekamanya, also attended the event.
The homily was delivered by Rev. Fr. Dr. Lazarus Luyinda, Rector of St. Mary’s National Seminary, Ggaba.
Fr. Luyinda congratulated Fr. Mpagi—who also serves as Chaplain of the Diocesan Women’s Guild—and urged him to continue serving with dedication, especially in the ministry of confronting witchcraft.
In his remarks, Bishop Lawrence Mukasa of Kasana-Luweeero Diocese praised the jubilarian for his steadfast ministry over the past five decades.
The Prelate noted that Fr. Mpagi was ordained in Rome in 1975 and recalled that during the Diocese’s recent pilgrimage to Rome—where several Masses were celebrated—Fr. Mpagi was among the priests who took a leading role at the altar.
Bishop Mukasa also conveyed Pope Leo’s blessings to Fr. Mpagi on behalf of the Holy Father.
Bishop Ssekamanya used the occasion to call for renewed efforts in strengthening family life, which he described as the cornerstone of the Church.
He emphasized that strong families nurture good teachers, catechists, priests, and, above all, exemplary leaders.
The celebrations climaxed with the presentation of a brand-new Prado TX to Fr. Mpagi as a gift in recognition of his 50 years of service.
