Bishop Lawrence Mukasa Marks Third Episcopal Anniversary.

The Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa, has marked his third anniversary of Episcopal ordination with a call to Catholic men to embrace courage, responsibility and exemplary Christian living.

Bishop Mukasa made the call on Sunday, August 9, 2026, during celebrations held at Our Lady of Fatima Queen of Peace Kasana Cathedral, bringing together the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Catholic Men’s Guild and the faithful to mark his third episcopal anniversary.

The celebrations brought together two significant occasions: Bishop Mukasa’s third anniversary as Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese and the annual celebration of the Diocesan Catholic Men’s Guild Day.

The Men’s Guild, led by Dr. Ronald Kibira, organized the celebrations, which centered on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, presided over by Bishop Mukasa.

During his homily, Bishop Mukasa urged Catholic men to be courageous and steadfast in fulfilling their responsibilities in their families, the Church and society.

He challenged the men to overcome fear and confidently take up their responsibilities, noting that men have an important role to play in providing security and stability, including financial support and other forms of responsibility within their families and communities.

The Prelate further called upon Catholic men to live out their Christian vocation through good example, saying their conduct should reflect the teachings and values of Jesus Christ.

“Catholic men should truly live as Catholic men,” Bishop Mukasa emphasized, urging them to become witnesses of the Gospel through their daily lives.

Bishop Thanks the Faithful

Reflecting on his three years of episcopal ministry, Bishop Mukasa expressed gratitude to the clergy, Religious and lay faithful of Kasana-Luweero Diocese for their continued support and cooperation.

He said the progress and achievements registered during his episcopate were a result of the collective support and commitment of the faithful across the Diocese.

Bishop Mukasa also encouraged the Catholic men to actively register for the diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land in Israel in 2027, describing it as an important opportunity for spiritual renewal and deepening of faith.

Bishop Mukasa was consecrated and installed as the Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese on August 5, 2023, in a historic ceremony at the Diocesan headquarters in Kasana, Luweero, which attracted tens of thousands of faithful.

Vicar General Commends Men

After the Holy Mass, the Vicar General of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, Msgr. Vincent De Paul Mukiibi, commended the Catholic Men’s Guild for organizing the joint celebrations.

Msgr. Mukiibi who is also the Kasana Cathedral Administrator said the gathering was a testimony to the men’s commitment to a pledge they had made a few years ago to remain steadfast in their participation in the life and mission of the Church and never to tire or turn back.

He echoed Bishop Mukasa’s call for Catholic men to believe in themselves, remain courageous and confidently embrace their responsibilities as Catholic fathers and leaders in the Church and society.

Diocese Registers Pastoral Growth

During Bishop Mukasa’s first three years at the helm of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, the number of parishes has increased from 20 to 32, marking significant pastoral expansion aimed at bringing the Church closer to the faithful.

The anniversary celebrations therefore provided an occasion for the Bishop, clergy, Religious and lay faithful to give thanks to God for the gift of episcopal ministry and for the pastoral growth of the Diocese.

The Mass was also broadcast live on the KLD Catholics Online YouTube channel.
