Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Judicial Vicar Set to Celebrate Priestly Silver Jubilee

Twenty-five years after kneeling before the altar and solemnly giving himself to Christ and His Church, Rev. Fr. Dr. Lawrence Kizito Kimbowa will on Saturday, September 5, 2026, celebrate his Priestly Silver Jubilee at St. Anthony Catholic Parish, Migyera, in Kasana-Luweero Diocese.

Fr. Kimbowa was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on August 18, 2001, marking the beginning of a priestly journey dedicated to the proclamation of the Gospel, the celebration of the Sacraments and the pastoral service of the People of God.

The Jubilee celebration will be held under the theme:

“I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous deeds.”
Psalm 9:1

The celebration will bring together clergy, religious men and women, family members, friends, parishioners and well-wishers to give thanks to Almighty God for the gift of Fr. Kimbowa’s vocation and the grace of 25 years of faithful priestly ministry.

Fr. Kimbowa currently serves as the Dean of Nakasongola Deanery, under which St. Anthony Catholic Parish, Migyera, falls.

He is also the Parish Priest of St. Anthony Catholic Parish, Migyera.

The organizing committee, led by its chairperson, Rev. Fr. Denis Ssebuggwaawo, expects more than 2,000 faithful and guests to attend the celebration.

The occasion is expected to be a joyful expression of thanksgiving for the gift of the priesthood, while also giving the faithful an opportunity to celebrate the many years Fr. Kimbowa has spent serving Christ and His Church.

The Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa, is expected to grace the occasion, together with brother priests, religious men and women, members of Fr. Kimbowa’s family, friends from Uganda and abroad, and the faithful from across the Diocese.

Parishioners of Migyera will be joined by faithful from communities where Fr. Kimbowa has previously exercised his priestly ministry, including Kasana Cathedral, Ziroobwe, Nattyole and Nakasongola, among others.

Beyond the festivities, the Jubilee will provide an opportunity for the People of God to return thanks to the Lord for the gift of Fr. Kimbowa’s vocation, reflect on his priestly journey, and invoke God’s continued grace upon his ministry.

It will also be a moment to pray that he may remain steadfast in fidelity to Christ, generous in pastoral charity and fruitful in his service of the Church.

Jubilee Celebrations to be Streamed Live

Catholics and other well-wishers who may be unable to attend the celebration physically will have an opportunity to participate virtually.

The Jubilee celebration is expected to be streamed live on the KLD Catholics Online YouTube Channel, enabling the wider Catholic community, as well as Fr. Kimbowa’s friends and former parishioners beyond the Diocese, to unite spiritually in the thanksgiving celebration.

Silver Jubilee Souvenir Magazine

The Jubilee celebrations will also feature the launch and sale of a Silver Jubilee Souvenir Magazine dedicated to Fr. Kimbowa’s 25 years of priestly ministry.

According to the editorial team, the publication traces the jubilarian’s journey from his early life and formative years, through his discernment of the priestly vocation and seminary formation, to his ordination and subsequent years of pastoral and ecclesiastical service.

The souvenir magazine seeks to preserve the memory of a priestly vocation lived out over a quarter of a century, documenting Fr. Kimbowa’s service to Christ, His Church and the People of God.

Messages of Goodwill

The Diocesan Press understands that Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa, Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, has conveyed his congratulations, best wishes and prayers to the jubilarian as he marks this significant milestone in his priestly journey.

The Vicar General of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, Msgr. Vincent De Paul Mukiibi, has likewise joined the clergy, religious and faithful in extending his goodwill and prayers to Fr. Kimbowa as he celebrates his Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ministry.

As the Church celebrates this milestone, the Jubilee is ultimately a thanksgiving to God, from whom every vocation flows and through whose grace the priest is sustained in his ministry.

It is a moment for the faithful to echo the words of the Psalmist: “I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart.”
